Stolen University of Idaho Desktop Computers Contain Information on 70,000

Quick Facts

Abstract
University of Idaho officials announced that three desktop computers stolen from the University's Advancement Services office might have contain personal information on 70,000 students, employees, donors and alumni. Information on these computers included names, addresses and Social Security numbers. This information was stored on the computers six months before the theft, but it is unclear whether this information still resided on the hard drives at the time of the theft. Notifications are being sent out to over 331,000 individuals whose information may have been included on these computers. The University is increasing both technical and physical security measures and has setup a website - www.identityalert.uidaho.edu - and phone number - (866) 351-1860 - for anyone concerned about the safety of their personal information.
