Stolen NKU Laptop Contains Current, Former Student Information

Abstract
Northern Kentucky University is notifying current and former students after a laptop was stolen from a secured location on campus. Using a recent backup, the university was able to discover the laptop contained the names and Social Security numbers of 200 students. The university is advising students to place fraud alerts on their credit reports. While the university does not think that the information was what the thief was after, it will help help student that find themselves a victim of identity theft due to the theft.
