Villanova University

Villanova Latest Institution Affected By Laptop Theft

Abstract
A stolen laptop belonging to an insurance brokerage firm contained personal information on over 1,200 Villanova students. Students names, dates of birth and driver's license numbers were among the data contained on this laptop. Affected students will receive free credit monitoring services from Villanova, according to university officials. The university notified those affected in an Oct 26 letter. However, a story in the Villanovan, Villanova's student newspaper, condemns the university for notifying parents of affected students instead of the students themselves.
