Information on Texas A&M Employees Found Online

Abstract
Texas A&M University System Agriculture Program is alerting current and former staff members that a computer error placed their personal information online for 21 days. The computer records found online contained the names and Social Security numbers of 3,000 individuals in two Texas A&M System agricultural agencies and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Initial analysis of the records indicates that the incident only affected individuals employed after May 1, 1999. According to Texas A&M officials, the records were removed within 30 minutes of discovery. All employees were notified of the incident by e-mail and officials will be contacting affected employee by letter and will offer assistance. The Texas A&M AgriLife program encourages employees with questions or concerns to call the Human Resources office - 979-845-2423 - and directs all employees to a web site - fcs.tamu.edu/money/your_money/fraud.php - on how to prevent fraud.
