Computer Breach Potentially Impacts Thousands at Goshen College

Quick Facts

Abstract
Goshen College is working to alert students after staff discovered an unknown individual had gained access to Goshen computers between May 5 and May 7. The breached computers contained the names, address, phone numbers, Social Security numbers and birth dates on 7,300 students as well as some parents. College officials do not believe this information was the target of the attack. Logs show the attacker used the Goshen computers to distribute SPAM e-mail messages. However, Goshen is working with students to help protect them from identity theft. In addition, Goshen has notified the three major credit bureaus about the breach. Law enforcement has also been brought in to help investigate the computer security breach. Goshen College will post updates to its main web site - www.goshen.edu - and also encourages any student or parent with questions to contact the college by phone - 866-877-3055 - or by e-mail - info@goshen.edu.
