Abstract
A computer stolen from a locked East Tennessee State University office contained the private information of 6,200 students, staff and alumni. A large screen television was also stolen from the office, which showed no signs of forced entry even though the office was locked. According to the university the computer was password protected so officials believe there is little chance the thief will access the confidential information.
