Abstract
The City University of New York system is alerting CUNY students after a laptop containing student information was stolen from a SUNY office. The laptop contained the names and Social Security numbers on 20,000 students. According to CUNY officials, the theft was reported to the police, but staff was unable to determine when the theft occurred. According to officials, the laptop was not functional and any information was "password protected". Letters to students places the theft as occurring sometime "last week". CUNY officials are urging students to monitor their credit reports for fraudulent activities.
