CCSN Breach Placed 200,000 Student Records At Risk

Quick Facts

Abstract
The Community College of Southern Nevada is alerting current and past students that their personal information might have been exposed during a February security breach. CCSN discovered a computer virus on a one of two CCSN servers containing student information might have allowed an intruder access to student records. The server in question contained the names and Social Security numbers of 200,000 students. CCSN president Richard Carter said that an internal investigation determined that no student information was accessed, however. An investigation by a third-party came to the same conclusion.
